Maybe yes, that is what those books are about ... or, maybe not. Let us be careful and not judge others too quickly.
To really understand why some people read those books, I want you to put yourself for the next 10 minutes in the shoes of a young child who grew up in foster homes, a child who during those young years often felt the same like a dog left in a shelter. Imagine that child growing up without the comfort of a loving parent, no family. Then, tell me how it feels, when there are no parents around who speak confidence, faith and love into that child.
Because this is the reality how some children grow up: parents with health issues, parents with alcohol issues, physical and psychological abuse, rejection, trauma, abandonment. Too often, these young people have nobody helping them to feel confident, worthy, good and lovable. Some may be lucky to have a good social worker who may motivate them to go to school. But that does not replace the loving hugs and comfort normal children receive from a real family.
When a young person is living with low self-esteem, because nobody ever told them that they do deserve a good life too, then being successful in the world out there is very difficult. Sometimes the only words they heard from their family were even the opposite, and therefore they struggle feeling good enough. And sometimes, that is why they lost faith in God; and this is why they need our support to find again that faith in God.
It is easy to feel secure, worthy, lovable and confident for a child who grows up within a loving family, with people who comfort and support that young person every day. But the opposite is the case for all those children who have to grow up without that loving support from a family. And for them, certain books can be helpful to them.
For people who are lucky to always have a family who supports and loves them, those books who talk about the laws of attraction seem “not so spiritual”. But for many others, the books about the law of attraction can help them to feel inspired, to hope, to develop some confidence, to learn how to feel better about themselves and change their life for the better. To all these people I say: if some of those books help you for certain things on your path, then that is fine.
This is why judging and criticizing others is never the right way. Instead, it is important to help them, teach them how to believe in themselves, so they can discover a new faith in God again.
No matter what the reasons are why someone lost faith in God along the path of life, I can understand it, because I was there too, a few years ago. Let me assure you that if you are reading this website right now, it is your own Divine Guidance sending you a message.
If you have experienced trauma or similar situations during childhood, make sure to read this article about healing those wounds.
To be clear here: I don't recommend books about those so-called laws of attraction or similar books. It is important to understand that our true source of supply is always God. Therefore, I do recommend reading books like this one Invisible Supply, written by Joel S. Goldsmith, to help you with this topic.
To better understand how God wants to help you, you may listen to the precious messages from teachers like Joseph Prince.
